I wrote The Cover of Night in 2014, and it’s the only track I have ever mastered so well initially that I never touched it again. I used Izotope Ozone on the master and a lot of plugins I no longer have in my arsenal. So it would be challenging to remaster anyway. It also came together very quickly, which is usually a good sign. The darker sound and title point to deeds done in darkness. These are the sorts of things we do not wish to do in the open light of day. Yet, they are not necessarily evil, such as the meeting between Jesus and Nicodemus.
